HappyGrace
AND we do a Jesse tree too; have for years. This is for dd11 and ds8. They loved those Jotham's Journey books but don't want to read thru them again. Anything similar, or something else fun for Advent?
Jaz
We're in the same boat. We'd like to try something new. We've already read Ann Voskamp's Advent Devotional too. I just remembered I had bookmarked a title. Is anyone familiar with The Christmas Mystery? ETA: I forgot I bought Stories Behind the Best-Loved Songs of Christmas. I wonder if that could work. 6packofun
Another option is making a tree with Chrismon ornaments! Here is a short page explaining, some examples: http://www.whychristmas.com/customs/chrismons.shtml You can go to http://www.paperchrismons.com/patterns.htm for patterns to make all kinds of ornaments with Christian symbolism. ereks mom
AND we do a Jesse tree too; have for years. This is for dd11 and ds8. They loved those Jotham's Journey books but don't want to read thru them again. Anything similar, or something else fun for Advent? We read all three a few years ago, and loved them too. Last year, we read The Christmas Mystery, but none of us liked it. Nice concept, and it did have good potential, but we thought it was just plain weird. I do like the stories behind the songs book idea you mentioned. My dc are music people, and would probably really love that one. I'm also interested in the Advent on DVD that someone mentioned last year on the boards. We've never done a Jesse Tree, although our church always did a Chrismon Tree. I'm going to be watching to see what other people post in response to your question. :001_smile:
