PhotoGal
My kids are in K and 2nd grade. I was thinking of purchasing Kitchen Table Math, but wondered if the first book would be too easy for them. Both kids can add/subtract, know place value, etc. Should we start with book 2? Or is there more to book 1 that they can still benefit from?
Alte Veste Academy
Definitely start with the first book. Check out the excerpts and the table of contents. There is a great deal more here than place value and addition/subtraction. I have all three books so if you have specific questions, I'd be happy to answer them. :)
SorrelZG
There are sections on multiplying, dividing, geometry, fractions, reasoning, probability and graphing .. basically a lot more than + & -. eta. I skipped the "etc." in your post .. I don't know what that represents so I don't know whether it would be too easy for them or not. :D Edited November 6, 2011 by SCGS
PhotoGal
Got ya! No, that does not sound too easy - especially for dd. I searched the forum and saw some people using it with their 3 year olds, so I wondered. But maybe they are just using part of the book or just doing something really concrete with it? I'll go check out the table of contents. Thank you!
SorrelZG
Well, it claims itself to be for 2-8 yos. It covers a wide range. :)
MeaganS
Yeah, it covers everything from learning to count on up. I would probably say it would be handy until late 2nd or 3rd grade. I have a copy (which my 3 year old isn't ready for yet) and if you have any particular questions about it, you can PM me. ETA: I'm referring to Book 1 Edited November 6, 2011 by MeaganS
