Munchkins_mama
I'm mostly dreaming, but I'm looking at vacations for next year. Have you been on the Disney Cruise line? Is it awesome? Worth the money? There is a Kids Sail free happening our of LAX in January and the whole trip would cost us under $4K with airfare, cruise, and a couple days and nights at Disneyland before the cruise. Again, I'm mostly dreaming. My husband dislikes vacations. :\
edelweiss
I've been on three Disney cruises and have two more booked. :001_smile: We really like them (obviously ;)). I think that they are worth it, but I've never cruised on another cruise line so I really can't compare. I have heard that they are definitely more expensive than other cruise lines, but my understanding is that the staterooms are more spacious with Disney and that is a huge plus to me. I was never really interested in cruising before Disney, but I love that cruising with Disney means mostly families aboard, good clean fun, and no casinos! After our next two cruises, I think we'll take a break from cruising for a while, but we really enjoy cruising with Disney.
Jennifer in MI
YES!!!!! GO!!!!! That is an amazing price for Disney. In fact, for that price, I'd consider upgrading to a nicer cabin. We love our balconies!!! We've been on 4 Disney cruises, so obviously we're hooked. (Our latest cruise was THIS cruise in September!) Dh and I cruised Royal Caribbean a long time ago and loved it too. But, with kids, Disney really knows what they're doing. (Our next cruise is RC though. The older boys wanted to try the new Oasis of the Seas.) A few things we loved included the fact that your wait staff will follow you from restaurant to restaurant. So, they know your likes and dislikes and allergies and all. On our last cruise, my dd couldn't WAIT to go to dinner because our servers did magic tricks for her! I think Disney is the only cruise line that does that. The shows are also AMAZING!!!! All of them held all my kids' attention. The kids' clubs are top notch. They really know how to entertain all ages. I think a cruise could turn your dh into a vacation lover! It's just so relaxing. Or active. It can be whatever you want it to be. You can choose to sit by the pool and have drinks brought to you. You can choose to stay in your stateroom and have room service brought to you (free!). You can choose to get off the ship at all the stops and do all the very active things. A couple hints. First, book through a travel agent who is offering a stateroom credit. We have to get two rooms, and we ended up having enough credits to our two rooms that it covered the tips. We went with Dreams Unlimited, FYI. Second. GET TRIP INSURANCE!!!!! Really. You may not think you need it, but boy, do I have a story for you! On our last Disney cruise, my son had an emergency appendectomy in Cabo. Our travel insurance, which cost us $188, paid for EVERYTHING. They already paid all his medical bills. They paid to get us home from Cabo (we had to leave the cruise and couldn't catch our flight home out of LA). They are paying for the hotel and food for the rest of us to stay in Cabo. And, they are paying for the portion of the trip we missed. They covered over $30,000 worth of expenses. Totally worth it. Go for it!!!!!!! Munchkins_mama
We LOVE Disney. Well, the girls and I do. Dh thinks it's all hyped up. He is too much of a grown up for the magic I guess. :tongue_smilie:
Jennifer in MI
We LOVE Disney. Well, the girls and I do. Dh thinks it's all hyped up. He is too much of a grown up for the magic I guess. :tongue_smilie: You know, I don't think you have to be a huge Disney fan to enjoy the cruise. They do a great job of incorporating the Mickey ears and all into the decor, but it's subtle. You don't have to meet the characters if you don't want to. But, one might show up and start walking down the hall with you! (One time, I was running on the track on deck 4 and Goofy came up in his jogging suit and did a lap with me!) The shows and deck parties are definitely Disney. But, you can choose not to attend and just do the adult shows. But, I really think that once he sees how happy the kids are with it all, he'll be a convert. Maybe not. But, it was the cruise line that changed my dh into a Disney fan!!! And your kids are at the perfect ages. They'll totally believe all the magic and you'll see it in their eyes. AND, you and your dh will get alone time!!! (Maybe that'll convince him???) AnnaM
I LOVE Disney, but to be honest if I was going to spend the money I would just do Disney World. But I am not a fan of cruises.
J-rap
You know, I think it's totally what YOU want to do! If that's what you really enjoy, then it sounds like it would absolutely be worth it! I've never done it myself. I'd love to go on the Queen Mary cruiseline across the Atlantic someday, with at least our younger two. I know it's pricey, but to me, it WOULD be worth it, because I know I'd love it. :)
