moonlight
I've just had a baby and a c-section!! My brain has ceased to function, but what I have noticed is that my two other boys, ages 8 and 5, have been in front of some sort of screen constantly and it has managed to drive me insane! We also just moved a week before the baby was born so a lot of our stuff is unavailable. Does anyone have ideas that I can throw at them that does not involve a screen or any complicated materials and that is not overly schooly since I'm trying to give us all a break. We have access to paper and markers and the internet. I've thought about them making "thankful" leaves to put on a tree we use as a seasonal tree and that seems to be about it for now. I have help around the house so even something that requires help would be fine so I can feel that they are doing something and not being totally neglected. My body can only manage giving lots of hugs at the moment...:glare: but my brain wants to do so much more! Anyone?? Seema
In2why
How about making those ornaments where you wrap yarn around a "t" made of popsicle sticks. They are easy enough for little guys and can be given as gifts. Plus they are quiet lol.
RoughCollie
http://www.enchantedlearning.com/Home.html They have "Thanksgiving Crafts, Decorations, Worksheets, Activities, and Printouts", and a whole lot more. When my boys were young, I subscribed to this site. It is $20 a year; the price has not changed in all these years! It was well worth it to me. When I clicked on something on the Thanksgiving page, the printouts were thumbnails and you have to subscribe to get the full page(s) with no ads. thescrappyhomeschooler
Can one of your helpers get some educational type videos from the library? My kids like Bill Nye the Science Guy, Rock N' Learn videos, Popular Mechanics for Kids videos, etc. That way, they can maybe be learning something while they are in front of one of those screen? P.S. Congratulations! Enjoy the new baby! And don't worry, you will all recover from the screen time! :D
