Tess in the Burbs
I grew up in the south and we had all these fashion rules to follow about no open shoes until Memorial Day, no white after Labor Day....and I am not fashionable in any way as an adult :tongue_smilie: Can I wear open toed black heels in winter? Could I get away with some tight/hose if the line didn't show? I bought an amazing pair of black heels(first in a decade) this summer but they are open toed/strappy. Do I need to go buy some winter black heels? Something that is closed toe? I have so many black dresses for some reason right now...help me figure out the shoe thing. What is acceptable these days? clementine
I think that most of the old-fashioned fashion rules have gone out the window. I see white after Labor Day, open-toed shoes all year, tights or bare legs all year, etc. If you are comfortable in it, wear it!!! :D
melissel
Well, I'm no fashion guru (I've always thought the white after Labor Day rule was ridiculous), but I personally wouldn't wear hose with open-toed/strappy shoes. It feels like wearing socks with sandals to me. I'd buy a nice, basic pair of black pumps instead. But that's just me!
SailorMom
I would wear hose with open toes or black if they don't have the lines - they sell them like that for that specific purpose. Not tights, though..... As for the Your shoes sound fine for winter, as long as your feet aren't too cold :) In Florida - all the color issues don't apply as we have hot days all over the calendar. However, you rarely see black shoes before mid September or after the middle of May - but I don't think anyone actually cares.
