Danestress
I want to buy each of my sons a nice leatherbound bible for his birthday and would like to get them each a bible cover that is monogrammed or embossed with his name. Does anyone have a source? I know what Bible translation I want and love the bible my DH has, so I could go with that one and order a cover sized accordingly, but I don't have a source in mind .... And really, I am open to suggestions that I should go with a different edition of the ESV I am thinking I will buy them. Dana
Plink
Christian Book Distributors has tons . . . And their warehouse sale is next weekend for those of us who happen to live in New England. They sell lots of school materials too. http://www.christianbook.com/
momofkhm
Honestly, once we make the switch to leather Bibles, I let go of the Bible covers. But I don't get leather Bibles until I feel they are old enough to take care of them well. (I didn't look at what age your kids are, but I do think it's a maturity level, not a specific age.) That being said, you can get leather bound Bibles imprinted with their names, initials, whatever. DH and I both have one like this. We bought FIL one for Christmas several years ago. The imprinting was free. I just went to the local Christian book store. For us it's Family Christian Stores or now Lifeway. They also have a variety of Bible covers at those stores. But I haven't seen those with initials or embossing with names available. I haven't asked either since I get the Bible imprinted. If the ESV is what you use at home, there is no reason to get something different for your boys. We use NIV in our house, partly because that's what the Bible studies I've gone to use and it's what I've gotten used to there. From a chart I saw somewhere, the NIV is a 7th grade reading level, the NIrV is about 3rd grade, the ESV is high school. I think. It's been a looong time since I saw the chart. But again, buy what you use in your home. You can look for all these at christianbook.com. They imprint Bibles for $5. They also have imprintable Bible covers. Chris in VA
I like to keep my leather covered bible by itself, too. (I don't take care of it, tho, in the sense that I write all over the inside! lol) If you decide not to do a cover, maybe a nice leather covered notebook would be good. I've started writing down things in a beautiful notebook and carrying it with my bible to my classes and for sermons (this isn't really a tradition in my church). Another place for nice covers is Lifeway, or you could try Family Christian Store. Really, any Christian bookstore will probably have some. I agree with CBD, tho--lots of selection and good prices.
