RainbowSprinkles
I'm working on coming up with a new and improved chore system for my dc. I want their basic chores to be done simply because they are done part of our family, but I plan on paying them an allowance if they get their basic chores done AND do so without arguing or complaining. What are basic chores your dc do? Then I want to come up with extra chores for them to do if they want to earn some more money. But they can only do those if they completed all their basic chores. What are some good extra chores for an almost 10 year old and a just turned 7 year old?
specialmama
Basic chores are what you want them to do no matter what and it's really what is important to you. Making their bed, cleaning their room, putting their laundry away, helping with the dishes, etc. For extra chores for pay, we have had a list on the fridge and it works great. We pay ten cents per mirror that is cleaned, 25 cents per grocery bag full of leaves, $1 for cleaning out the shoe closet, 50 cents for cleaning out the linen closet, $1 for matching my huge hamper of mismatched socks, and other chores like the bathroom, cleaning out a drawer, cleaning a shelf in the fridge, re-organizing the pantry, etc. I just look around the house and gather ideas. I'll pay more for a job I don't like to do (the shoe closet) and I'll also pay a little bonus for a job done really well.

JVA
I recommend this book whenever I speak at MOPS: http://www.amazon.com/Ways-Your-Kids-Work-Home/dp/0312299931/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1320361282&sr=8-
Mommy22alyns
Sylvia doesn't have any chores. *blush* I know she should. Rebecca empties trashcans into the kitchen trash and folds and puts away undies. Of course they're both responsible for picking up after themselves, putting their dishes in the sink, etc.
