Bang!Zoom!
No traveling. No libraries. No classrooms. No teachers. Just staying put today to put fine details together and firm up things. Right in our flipping pajamas..all.day.long. Ah...this is nice for once.

Elinor Everywhere
:hurray: I love those days! Right now, we have 2 Mondays a month where we don't have to go someplace. Heaven! Those have turned into pajama days - since both my kids are teenagers, I guess you're never too old for pj day! :D
mcconnellboys
Now that cooler, darker days are coming, I'm sorta looking forward to some of those types of days, myself, LOL....
Bang!Zoom!
As a last ending to this particular day I have a challenge if you want... Go ahead, put these on. Now you are in *my* shoes..to speak figuratively. So here you are with this 8 year old blank slate sitting across from you at the kitchen table. Your parent mind knows without a doubt that there is an issue at hand here with math. The issue? Stamina. The question you have to answer is "how to instill mathematical process stamina"- and increase focus and decrease what looks like an emotional temper-tantrum disguising itself as whiny "burnout." This is not burnout. It's temper and stubbornness getting in the way of stamina. So. Get up, go for a walk in these shoes, come sit back down after a few minutes of brainstorming. What ideas can you come up with? I promise I'll experiment with every idea you guys come up with. I know little bitty pieces of the problem, one of them is she sees me in her eyes as "only her mom" and "not her teacher" (teacher in the most legalistic sense of the word). I'm someone she can attempt to manipulate and push the boundaries of discipline and behavior. Edited November 3, 2011 by one*mom
