momsuz123
Hi, Originally, my girls absolutely loved our calendar time. Lately, the newness is just wearing off I think. We have a fun poem for the month (about the month from Mrs. Meacham), we do today's date (make the date with coins, write out date long and short), do today's weather, the time (most of this is shared, and done on our calendar - everything is laminated and the girls just write on/wipe off the answer. I haven't been as diligent about doing it lately either because I am tired of all the whining from my dd2, and the morning is the best time to get some school in while my 2 y/o is happy. Just curious what other's do. I may change it up and shorten it up. I just was looking for some more ideas, etc. Thanks!
Alte Veste Academy
Here is a recent thread about circle time. My kids' favorite parts are singing and holiday planning. We don't do everything every day. That's important. I try to keep things fresh by not doing the exact same thing all the time.
blondeviolin
We do it in a notebook so each kid can do their own stuff and they take turns doing the stuff on the fridge. The two favorites here are our weather graph and then where they use stickers to make the number of days in school (this is a good one for place value). Melis
Good Morning :) Aw! (((hugs))) I LOVE circle time. And I had such high hopes for it. Unfortunately, my boys were not circle time boys and had no appreciation for my enthusiastic efforts. They just wanted to get down to business. I suppose I should have just been grateful for that! LOL When it became evident to me that circle time was not the best way to use our time (and their attention), we just did the calendar. Now that they are 8 and 10, we don't even do that (sniff... sniff...). The good thing is, they learned the calendar skills they needed, which I guess was the whole point (rolls eyes)! LOL Have a great day! :)
ChrissySC
Have you considered some of the past discussions on mini-offices? Many of the moms are using these for circle time. They include a wide variety of activities to be performed. http://homeschoolcreations.com/miniofficelapbook.html http://www.teachingheart.net/minioffice.html Far too complex for you but ... here Each child could have one that is built toward their stage of learning and development. LOL Have a great day! :) See, in a way, this is a good thing. I even want to get to business when I see my 2 y/o being really good. I am thinking of moving calendar time to lunch time and see how that works. I changed it up today though and both girls said they loved it. I incorporated using the felt board and they could put up the number of animals for the date. We sang the November song, etc. I am loving some of these ideas you all have - thanks!
