SweetMissMagnolia
for the past week or so kiddo's been complaining that his feet hurt when he walks/jumps/etc...I checked them out and no bruises/scratches/redness/etc---went to dr today and had him checked out-hubby wanted us to get an xray just to be sure it wasn't a minor fracture or something--dr said it was probably just a minor stone bruise or similar but went ahead and did the xray and said it looked good just some inflammation.....anyone ever experienced similar? he told kiddo to take it easy/rest---and take ibuprofen if it's really bothering him and for us to get a heel cushion for his shoes.....I've checked his shoes too to see if he needs a bigger size...and they seem OK--he complains when he's wearing sneakers/flip flops/other shoes.....:glare:
jillian
I always had a lot of pain in my legs when I was going through a major growth spurt as a kid...ankles and knees especially. He may need more arch support/ankle support.
SweetMissMagnolia
that's what I was thinking too if it wasn't a fracture.....he's gone up a size in like 2-3months LOL.....outgrowing everything....
Harriet Vane
I would take those xrays to a podiatrist, preferably a children's specialist. I would also consider an MRI. If there is inflammation, there is a reason, and neither you nor your general practitioner are qualified to figure out why.
kht2006
Have you tried an epsom salt bath for temporary relief? Sometimes I just put some in the bath water. Other times DD soaks her feet in a bowl of warm water with epsom salt. It might help.
Denisemomof4
bone bruises hurt REALLY bad and take FOREVER to heal. I'd take him to a pediatric podiatrist. I've had severe foot pain my entire life. My mom would rub my legs as I cried after a long day of walking. The pain would start in my feet and sometimes radiated through my legs and up to my hips! I find the gel heel inserts very helpful, but I'd make sure the podiatrist saw him. Why is there inflammation>
QuirkyKidAcademy
My sister took her 4yo DD to a specialist yesterday, after months of E complaining of her feet hurting. He basically told Sis that E is spoiled and when she gets over the stage where she wants to be held, her feet will magically stop hurting. Didn't impress me a bit. Wow the specialist sounds like a horse's behind. No offense. Tell your sister if she feels something is wrong fight like he** to have more testing done. Pain doesn't come without a reason whether it is actual physiological or psychological pain is pain and when you feel it you feel it kwim? What about pressing on the heel? See if there's any part of the foot or ankle that hurts when you press on it.
Momof3littles
Any signs or symptoms consistent with plantar fasciitis? Worse in the morning when he first gets up? Does he pronate a lot? ITA that you need someone else to review the films and take a look at his biomechanics, etc. if their is inflammation.

Momling
I took my daughter to a podiatrist and was pretty impressed. She wasn't the only kid in the waiting room. The podiatrist x-rayed her foot... more of an ankle/tendon sort of thing... to rule out a fracture. He said it was almost certainly a problem called "Severs" which has a lot to do with growing feet and growth plates and is typical with 9-12 yr olds. He also noticed she pronated a bit (which I knew about) and with her hyper-extended knees (which I also know about), was concerned about alignment and future knee problems. We decided to do custom insoles, which our insurance paid half of. I think, because she's serious about ballet, it's pretty important to make sure she's got happy feet. Anyway, I would definitely recommend finding a good podiatrist.

amo_mea_filiis.
yeah the heel hurts and sometimes he'll say the middle/sole hurts....doesn't say sides hurt-- That says plantar faciitis to me. My daughter went through this for about 6 months. Her cure was NO flip flops or flat shoes. No cute girly shoes without support. I got her some great sneakers with support, she went to physical therapy once per week and the PT had her doing stretches and massaged her foot (which turned into feet and back; She would go in and say "Braaandooon, my feeeeeeeet hurt and my back is soooore". He couldn't say no to her!). We also did stretches at home and still do.

That is one of the typical symptoms. The other thing is a B-6 deficiency. But I would definitely check on the Lyme. Faithe
