Hi all,

I have been trying to get dd's transcripts from our homeschool association since last summer. I sent her junior grades last June.... I phoned two weeks ago and was assured I would have them the next day via email. Two weeks later, nothing. I have heard of other moms having to make transcripts when this happens.

 

Dd wants to go to the local public 4 year university that ds is currently at. When he applied, the same association sent a sealed transcript, and it was very professional looking. They did know he was homeschooled. We went to a campus day where they took applications and accepted the same day. That same event is in one week for dd.

 

Should I make the transcript? I don't know how to handle it. The high school grades are weighted, a 93 A is different than a 97 A, and a few of her classes are honors, so again a different point value for a 93, 97, etc. The association has a computer program that grades are fed into, weighted, averaged, and then a transcript is printed with a GPA average. I don't have that program and don't know all of the details of how to do it. I could guess, but I want it to be accurate.

 

I do know that the college just changed ds transcript to 4 point As. One problem I have already come up with is that dd has gotten straight As. On the regular transcript, there are different number scores for the As, on the homemade it will be 4, 4, 4, etc. for grades. I am wondering if they will wonder about it. Ds had a very high SAT score so it helped. Dd didn't, she is currently going to vision therapy, so she had a rough time with the critical reading section (slow reader, not enough time, low score).

I researched a little, I might be able to make them. The only thing is I won't have the ranking. That is on transcripts here. Groups/schools each rank. That might be what is holding the transcripts up, the association has to do all of dd's grade and put the ranking on them.

 

I did find the weighted scores and some samples online and how to figure the GPA. I might call the college and tell them what is going on and see if they will accept my transcript for now, and replace it with the association's when it comes.
