LanaTron
Hi, does anyone know if there is a place where I can view samples of Holt Geometry? Thanks.
Jann in TX
http://dragonometry.net/geometry/geometry_holt_videos.php http://dragonometry.net/geometry/geometry_holt_pages.php This site is supposed to be 'secure'--but so far you can still access these pages... This is for the 2007 edition.
LanaTron
Thanks, Jann, I'll check that out. Is that the edition you'd recommend, or is there another one that is more to your liking? I'm really pleased with the Lial's series that I chose off of seeing you recommend it repeatedly--that's why I'm asking you in particular. :-) Thank you again. Jann in TX
I use Holt with my online classes. We do NOT use the text much for homework-- the BEST homework assignments for this program come off of the One Stop Planner... more practice and better questions. The One Stop Planner is the MEAT of the program. I would NOT recommend the program if only the text and the videos were used or if the student/teacher does not have access to the One Stop Planner (this resource has more than just worksheets and tests-- it has full solutions/problem solving and challenge ideas and lots more)... especially since most students using it this way would try to do every section-- it was NOT designed to be worked straight through-- the TEACHER needs to use the wide variety of lessons according to the needs of the class-- if you try to do it all it would take 1.5 years or more!!! If you are looking for an independent Geometry then look at Teaching Textbooks-- Geometry is the only level of TT I recommend. Jann
LanaTron
Just now getting back over here...Okay, thanks for that information...I'll take a look at TT. I actually got to see Holt first-hand, since that is the text used in our local ISD, and my dd's friend had it at home. I'm also considering Jacob's, and a friend of mine has Developmental Geometry that I'm going to look at, too.
