Halcyon
I have the first WTM, bought waaaay back when ;) I haven't bought the latest edition, but as I begin to think about Logic stage, I wonder whether it might be useful. My library, unfortunately, only has the older version. Should I splurge? Is it necessary? Are there many differences, particularly with regards to the Logic stage? Thanks!!! Renee in NC
Yes. There were BIG changes in the Logic Science recommendations - not just new resources, but a whole new approach.

Hedgehog
I have all three editions and find them all useful for the variety of ideas and curriculum suggestions. So yes, I think it would be worth you getting the 3rd edition.
Margo out of lurking
I was reluctant to replace my original WTM book. It was great then, and I didn't want to spend more money. But I checked out the new edition from the library and quickly ordered a new copy for myself. It was that different, and that much more helpful than even the first wonderful book. :)
In the Rain
I've been wondering the same thing, so I'm glad you asked!
Halcyon
Does anyone have this on the Kindle? Do you like it? I have BFSU on the kindle (I kinda equate the two because to me, they are both reference-type books that I will flip back and forth in) and I actually like BFSU on kindle. So I'm thinking I'd like WTM on Kindle too. Or maybe I just don't wanna wait for delivery :)
arliemaria
Is it still worth getting if you don't have any children in the logic stage? Is the whole book different?
Lady Florida.
I was wishing I still had my original copy, but as I read this thread, and ds is entering the logic stage, I'm not so sure. What kind of differences are there? When I sold my old one, he was still in the grammar stage so I didn't pay much attention to the logic stage. I'm not sure I'd want WTM on my Kindle. It's the kind of book I like to browse and flip around in, and those don't work well for me on the Kindle.

I like the physical book because I like to highlite stuff and make notes, post its etc. Do you really like a reference book on kindle? I like to go back and forth between pages etc and cannot imagine doing that on my kindle. I have a couple cookbooks on Kindle and it makes me nuts! Is it still worth getting if you don't have any children in the logic stage? Is the whole book different? No, the whole book isn't different but many things are simplified. And since the first ed. many items have gone out of print etc. If you are new to homeschooling or only have young kids, it might make sense to have the newest edition if only to have the most up to date stuff. Some of the stuff in the grammar section has been streamlined as well. So far, the book has been updated every 5 years. I wonder if we are going to get a 2014 ed? Reference books, cookbooks, and any other kind of book that I like to flip through just don't work for me on the Kindle. I love my Kindle but it has its limits. I like having the kindle edition because then I basically have it with me wherever I am, but for quick reference, I usually grab my hard copy and flip through it. The kindle edition does have a nice linked table of contents and is pretty easy to navigate for a kindle book.
Halcyon
I hadn't thought of the fact that I will have it with me wherever I go (library!) I think I want to read it tonight LOL....
....
I've read all three versions...and there were big differences. I just bought the third version last week and have been planning, planning, planning... It's still an incredible book (everytime I read it). I bought the hardcopy so I can drag it all over the house (it needs wheels and one of those luggage handles) and take notes from it.
Halcyon
I feel the same way, Starrbuck-and that's regarding the older edition, so I'm sure I will love the latest.
JenC3
Ahhh, thanks for bringing this up! I bought the original back in '99. Dh and I weren't yet married! I wondered if I should pick up a new version, but now I know I should.
