Ellie
I'm going to a clinic sponsored by my church (what a blessing!); there are two doctors who volunteer, plus various nurse practitioners, almost-doctors, and so on. Ok, so, first I saw a doctor who really seemed to listen to me, and gave me a prescription for 200 thingummies of a synthetic thyroid med (my labs had been amazingly off-the-charts low...or is it high? those thyroid numbers are so strange! I'm hypthyroid, so whatever that is...). The next month I asked for armour, so she bumped me down to the lowest available, so we could move up slowly. I went in for labs a month later; when I saw the doctor (the other doctor's dh, turns out) he said my labs were normal and that he needed to be careful not to overmedicate. :glare: So I whined about my symptoms being unchanged, and asked if the labs had included T-3 and T-4; he said no, but it was Something-Sensitive and would have picked up on T-3 and T-4, but hey, if I insisted I could get the labs done right then for T-3 and T-4. Are you still with me? :D So tonight I went in for the results. Guess what? According to *those* labs, I'm STILL LOW! I saw a nurse-practitioner tonight, and she wrote me a little higher dosage of the Armour. I'll go in for labs in a month (which will include T-3 and T-4...why didn't they do that in the first place???); we'll see how things go this month, symptoms-wise. And so there you have it.
