simka2
Please tell me they survive! Yesterday, mine came up from the creek to say they had built a bark boat, placed a mother scorpion....and her babies on it, and then sunk the boat in the creek. They were quite proud of themselves. :glare: then they brought home a giant crawdad, I swear it was part lobster! I will say this: they are sleeping wonderfully. :D

Julie in CA
Amazingly enough, they do seem to survive. :D My boys/kids have grown up with the farm life, and though they've had more "adventures" than I care to think about, we've (praise the Lord!) not had very many injuries. Stitches, yes, but no broken bones, no concussions, and no loss of life. :001_huh:
fairfarmhand
kids not only survive but they thrive. The most peaceful days are when my kids are outdoors all day doing some kind of project. They are excited enough about their task that they don't want to fuss and ruin it. They come in tired and happy.

The extraordinary heat finally broke, but we've yet to have any significant (or really insignificant) rainfall. I will say this: they are sleeping wonderfully. :D Well, if they can catch enough crawdads, you can have dinner! :) :iagree: Ah, the memories -- a cooler full of fresh crawdads and mom's homemade horseradish sauce (heavy on the horseradish, light on the sauce), sitting outside in the evening, with cool beverages, swatting away mosquitos big enough to carry off small animals and children. Oh, and yes, your boys will survive. Whether or not you will is an entirely different question.:D My kids (boys & girls) roam our land for hours and (usually) stay within the boundaries dh and I set. FaithManor
I've managed to get one to fourteen. The others are thirteen and eleven. I'll let you know if any of the expire! :D It's a challenge. I am amazed at what they will try sometimes. Flammability seems to be a key factor in their entertainment some days. I've recently interceded in a "innocent fire for making s'mores" when the flames hit five feet! :001_huh: We also had to stop them from taking nature hikes unattended because of reports that they loved to find rotting trees that were still standing and the oldest would climb up to as close to the top of the tree as his weight could be supported and the other two would rock the tree back and forth until it fell, oldest thus "riding" the tree down. THEY LEARNED THIS FROM OUR PASTOR!!!!! He is the father of two innocent girls and has now been taught the truth that one male should not relate his youthful exploits to underage males. :glare: Of course, I'm still letting them watch Mythbusters and Rocket City Rednecks at grandma's on cable so....I guess I'm just as culpable. Sigh....boys are very entertaining when not attempting to kill themselves with their ingenuity! Faith
simka2
You guys are making me feel so much better! :D it really is wonderful out here. I am just in the middle of moving chaos, utility hook ups, no school being done and other such disruptive craziness. The nights are so peaceful...even with a train track not to far away. ;)
