HappyGrace
Everything I find uses uncooked, and I often have a cup or two cooked oatmeal leftover laying around to use up. I thought there used to be an oatmeal bread recipe maybe? But anything would be great! Thanks!
In The Great White North
I make bread with it. I add whole milk to the leftover oatmeal in the pot and warm it back up. Then I add a little bit of sugar and a couple of cups of whole wheat flour (til it's like cake batter), mix it up and let it set for hours (so the whole wheat softens up.) Then I add yeast and white flour til it's bread consistency. Then I let it rise and bake like normal bread. No measuring involved because I never know how much oatmeal will be leftover. If there's too much dough, I just make two loaves; too little, I make some rolls.
HappyGrace
Oh, man, that sounds delish but sounds like a recipe for disaster for me! I am a good cook but I think I would find a way to screw that up with amounts! :)
melissel
You can firm them up a bit with a little flour and fry them into patties or pancakes. ETA: There are a bunch of ideas in this thread on Chowhound, including recipes for "porridge bread." HTH!
