s/o Pinterest.....

Darla gave a great summary in another recent Pinterest thread:

More accurately, it's a place to store links using images. For example, I am coordinating ideas on one of my boards for family portrait outfits. I can see everything side by side and get an idea of what might match MUCH better than trying to line up windows in my browser. I can also see pretty quickly if a shirt I had picked for one family member is a touch too dressy, too sporty etc as compared to the rest.

It's great for home decorating ideas, coordinating fabrics if you sew, yarn, recipes, projects, homeschool rooms, anything you might want a little help visualizing how it might come together before you jump in.

In short, it's a place to keep track of the many ideas and inspirations I find on the net. It's also helping ME to actually cull my ideas. I can just as easily use it as a tool to eliminate as to add. When I see something that won't work, it's outta there.

I'm consolidating bookmarks from multiple browsers on multiple computers...and discovering lots of new ideas in the process!

Yes for me, probably because everyone is searching for http://pinterest.com/tricyndiloowho/

Pinterest would have been great for organizing FIAR resources/ideas by book! I have a sudden longing to get out my FIAR manuals...

Well, aren't you just the sweet talker! lol

How do you get that to pin for you as a link? I'm all kurfluffled over here!

There is a CHANCE, however slight that, upon the new year I shall resolve to withold my sarcastic comments from other people's pins. Until then, however, everything is fair game. Cakes baked in an eggshell, INDEED!

It was really interesting to see everyone's stuff. I am wondering if these things are open so anyone can see one's full name if one has it posted along with any other info one cares to put on one's page.

Between the two internet sites (TWTM and Pinterest) I can come up with first and last names and states where many of y'all live. How safe it that?

It is possible to change that. When I first joined Pinterest, it ws linked to my Facebook account. I've changed it to be my first name only, general location, and linked to my blog.

I had the same concern.

Have to give a shout out to my favorite homeschooling pinner http://pinterest.com/samuserensemble/

She is a homeschool pinner goddess!! I was kinda hoping she was on this board :tongue_smilie:

Thanks to Cyndi. :grouphug:

I went on vacation and came back.

She tells me about pinterest and sends me an invite.

And my life has changed .

I now dream in pinterest mode - seriously .

don't know if that link will work. I don't crochet, but this sums it up for me. Give me pinterest over FB any day. :)

I keep wanting to rearrange links by dragging and dropping. When they "fix" that it will be perfect.

Also, does anyone understand what the purpose of tagging is? I thought it would be great if I could then sort by tag, but I can't. So is it just for the purpose of searchability later or by others?

Overall, I love it. Though in some ways it is a big junk drawer. ;)

Can you explain for the very dimwitted (i.e me) how one goes about doing this?

Click "Edit Profile" on the left side of Pinterest when you're logged into your account. It's right under your user image. You can change the image and the name associated with your Pinterest account there.
