Is there a unit study on "National Treasure"?

Recommended Posts

We watched "National Treasure 2" this morning and it was just a fun movie. Has anyone done or know of a unit-type study on these movies. I think it would a great summer project to study the people and places in the movie. I'm sure I could put one together on my own, but are there any already out there? TIA.

They are called "the Gates Family Mysteries" and involve different ancestors of Ben Gates (the movie character) investigating mysteries at different historical periods. Most seem to involved American history. Here's a link to one. There are two or three out now. I saw them at the local Barnes & Noble.

I'd think it would have to start with picking out the myths from the facts. I know enough about Precolumbian Mesoamerica to just totally lose the suspension of disbelief and want to nitpick the heck out of it.

My dd watches the National Treasure video over and over again and looks up every little detail and so on and so forth. As far as NT2 goes, she already knows tons about the Black Hills.

Plus, my cousin works for the National Forestry (whatever you call it, he is a water engineer) and has actually been on top of Mount Rushmore and gave us a fair amount of details so DD knew where there was error in the movie and then also the details about various things mentioned on that. She is already going over and over that video too.

I am going to look for those books that other person mentioned. Have your children seen the first one? That was very good too.

Yes, we've seen the first one several times. We did US history this year and while studying the Revolution I found myself saying "Remember in the movie National Treasure?"

How fun to have been on Mt. Rushmore! I've been there and now ds is ready to go as well.
