Julie in MN
Has anyone used the KNex DNA kit with a high schooler? http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000O8Z7UQ/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&m=ATVPDKIKX0DER I'm trying to draw my youngest son into Biology this year. But sometimes I get kits that are just not worth the putzing. For instance, we have chemistry molecule sets, but after a whole construction, you just have one element, and have to start over with the next one. I'd like to know the time investment vs. payoff on the DNA set. It looks like it would be good for the DNA/RNA thing. The blurb also says, "Wonderfully flexible set allows students to build and learn using models that demonstrate phosphate groups, deoxyribose/ribose sugars, color-coded hydrogen bonds, four codons and color coded nucleotides." It's not cheap - a $48 kit. But I have time to save - we won't cover DNA til late in the year. I'm asking now because I like to do my thinking during the summer (one week left!). Anyone at all ever use this? Maybe one of you science teachers? Julie
