Alice
DO IT!! It's really really fun. I signed us up for a Segway tour of Washington DC (we live in the suburbs) for dh's birthday. It was such a fun experience. Somewhat pricey but worth it as a special date. If you live somewhere that has tours, try it. Just my public service for the day. :D
OnTheBrink
Can children use Segways? I know Chicago has Segway tours. That would be fun for dd and I to do.
Karenciavo
Walt Disney World has a Segway tour of World Showcase in EPCOT, it's a blast!

I'm not sure if that is a standard.
Alice
I think the standard is 16 and up (at least at all the tours I looked into it was.) Also you had to be over 100 pounds (and under 250 pounds and non-pregnant). We did have one teenager on our tour and one woman probably in her 70's or 80's. BeachGirl
My dd15 and I did one in our town that I won at an auction. She is small and they did say that anyone under 80 lbs will just not register on the gyroscope. Other than that, they had no age restriction. Different places have different rules. Oh, by the way, the ride was wonderful. I want to do it again soon but this time in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco.
NHDeb
The inventor of the Segway lives the next town over from me. He (or his company) sponsor a lot of science-type activities for kids in the area - like FIRST Robotics stuff, etc.
Crissy
Whenever we see the fire marshall at our football stadium, he lets our boys ride his Segway. They love that thing!!

My younger son is just now hitting 80 pounds, but he's never had a problem. I think he first rode a Segway three years ago.
