Guest My5Kids
I have been a "lurker" on these boards for over a year now. I love reading all the threads and have bought a lot of homeschooling material due to the information I have read about. My problem is that I haven't had time to get around to it all. I really really want to homeschool my children, but it isn't practical right now. My husband has been unemployed for over a year now, and I work from home to pay the bills, but mainly to have health insurance through an employer since me and my autistic son have pre-existing conditions. The problem is this - My husband doesn't seem to have ANY motivation to get a job. My job is VERY stressful, and although it is sufficient to pay the bills, I hate working all day and being able to hear what is going on in the house w/o me. My kids are all pretty young and "mob rule" sometimes wins out. Also, my husband watches the kids while I work and he has the tv on ALL day. He is constantly asking me to help with the kids or make lunch/dinner, or other things like that, and I get behind in my work because of this and have to stay up late at night or on the weekends to finish. I guess my question is . . . how do I make sure to cover the main things right now in terms of finances, etc. without enabling my husband? Does that make sense? I can't just quit my job to motivate him since that would be putting me and my son's health at risk, and well as put even more stress in our marriage. Also, how to I motivate my husband without being a nag. Whenever I bring up the subject of him getting a job, he just hangs his head and walks away. I need to do SOMETHING, and I know I can only change what I do - so Hive, please give me things I can do, try, say, etc. I want to be a Mommy to my kids again, especially since they are still so young. Thanks in advance for the advice !
