Mergath
My psychiatrist just informed me a couple days ago that he thinks I have Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, and not Borderline Personality Disorder (or that I did have BPD but recovered). So, yay, I guess. OCD has much less of a stigma, so I'm happy. I mean, I guess I'm still possessed by demons either way, but... (Sorry. I couldn't resist. I tried, really I did.) Anyway, he wants to put me on Luvox to control the anxiety and obsessions and some mild compulsions. What worries me is that the list of potential side effects (things like suicide and basically going completely nutso) is very long and rather frightening. Does anyone have any experience with Luvox you'd like to share, good or bad? Or any advice on dealing with OCD? I honestly only figured out that I have it fairly recently- I'd attributed all the crazy to the BPD before, but OCD makes much more sense. Thanks! Heather R
Sorry to revive an old thread, but I wondered if you ended up taking Luvox and how it went? One of my DC's psychiatrists has recommended it and I'm doing some research...
Susan in TX
My daughter was given Luvox for OCD when she was 11. In her case it was a miracle drug. It completely got rid of her OCD symptoms and she had no side effects from it. She is now 20, still on luvox, and doing just fine. Mergath
I ended up not being able to take it, but I can't remember why. Possibly it messed with my epilepsy? Anyway, I ended up on Lexapro, and it works well.
