8filltheheart
Today has been an emotional one. My ds graduated from college today. He took his last exam this morning. Last week his dd was given the all-clear to travel this weekend as long as she was only in the car 3 hrs/day. So, last night dh took our dil and grand-daughter part of the way for the 4 day trip home. He met ds this afternoon. So.....after 3 months of separation, ds and his family are reunited. What huge number of blessings in a single day!! FWIW, our granddaughter is doing fantastic. She is 5 lbs 11 ozs and is as cute as can be. She was actually in our home for the last 3 weeks. (They didn't want her traveling until she was closer to 6 lbs.) Thank you to all of you who prayed for her. Her hospital experience, while definitely not something I ever want to go through again, was continuously a sequence of the best possible outcomes. I have to be honest and say that it is a surreal experience to be around our ds, his wife, and our granddaughter while our toddler screams "baby" b/c she wants to try and hold her. And sitting here thinking about him as a college graduate with a full-time career......this stage is whole realm of emotions that I cannot express other than to say I'm completely overwhelmed. :001_smile:

swimmermom3
Best wishes to your son and his family. He sounds like a remarkable young man, but then that isn't really surprising given the caring home he was raised in. You have done well on all counts, Mom.:grouphug:
wapiti
Congratulations on your ds!!! So glad the scary NICU phase is over, and that your granddaughter is doing well! (the nicu was one of my lowest times, emotionally, as a parent; I have a similar, though brief, moment coming up next month, and I just want it to be over).
