If FLL didn't work for us...

Recommended Posts

My son's eyes would glaze over and he would get so fidgety doing FLL. He didn't seem to retaining either. Even though I thought it was the sweetest thing, I need to figure something else out. Is it a boy thing and maybe to auditory and not interactive enough? If so, I'm wondering if PLL will get the same reaction here. What I need is just an into. to get him prepped enough for his 3rd grade testing. We will do formal grammar with Shurley in 5th (will be testing this year again). Anyways, I'm thinking of the IF You Were A Noun, adjective, etc. books, Mad Libs, and a grammar song CD might just do the trick to get us through testing and until 5th. Thoughts, suggestion, BTDT? Thanks so much.

Doesn't Shurley have a 3rd grade book? If you plan on using it later, maybe you could start now.

I could. It's just that I had always planned to begin formal, intensive grammar in 5th with some gently grammar in 2nd and 3rd ala the Simply Charlote Mason schedule. Truthfully, (ducks) I'm a mish mosh of delayed academics, classical education, CM, so the SCM schedule works really well and is perfect for us. Until now. Although, I did sub FLL for PLL. I'm just not sure where to go from here.
