Liz CA
-under (or up to) $50.00 - please tell me I can still get a pair of shoes for $50.00 -comfortable, some kind of foot support! -closed toes and no or very low heel -mule /clog style is fine Wherever I have looked, the pair is nearly $100.00, if it is less they look as if they will disintegrate in front of my very eyes or they have ridiculously high heels. Should I look in a place where medical personnel gets shoes - (and where is that?) since theirs are supposed to be very comfortable for walking and standing? Kim in Appalachia
footsmart is a good place to look. If you know a brand that works for you, you can try www.sierratradingpost.com If you sign up for their deals (e-mail), you can get coupons that take the price down. They often have 25%, even 35% off deals.
Parrothead
Do you like any of these? I clicked the under $50 so hopefully the link goes to them. I'm not sure if they have the (arch?) support you are looking for. ETA: It didn't go to the under $50 shoes. Scroll down and click the correct link. Oh, I like the Anne Klein penny loafer - but a bit too pricey. Will keep on looking.
kathkath
Not under $100 but I swear by my keen mary janes. I've had one pair for 4 years now and the only reason I bought another pair was because I dropped a tub of salad dressing on one shoe and could.not.get.the oil stain off. eschuetter
just got a great pair of Clarke's mules at DSW for about that price --- worth a look if you have one near you.
Denise in IN
I love Born shoes - they are more then $50 at regular price, but I've been able to find several pairs for less than that by searching the web and taking my time. Don't forget to try Ebay & Amazon for good deals.
Carol in Cal.
Do you have a Nordstrom Rack nearby? There is a brand of shoes that I think you would love--Sofft. They are cushy, very well-made, supportive, and attractive, and they come in flats to heels. At the Rack you can often find them for $30-50. Liz CA
Oh. my. gosh! I just walked in a friend's Birkenstocks - we are the same size. She is lucky I let her leave with her shoes. These are seriously comfortable. I may have to break down and spend more than $50.00 on shoes...but oh my... And they even have some closed toe styles (unfortunatley even more than the sandals). I could wear those to work. I am now checking all the recommendations here...because the average price for a pair of Birks is a lot of money for a pair of shoes. :001_huh:
LucyStoner
A couple of thoughts: I tend to think I spend less on shoes overall because I spend more per pair. My shoes last and last and last. I have had the same pair of Keens for 7 years and they are still totally wearable. When I was a kid, my parents bought the cheap shoes but they needed to be replaced quickly, often before I outgrew them. So cheap can definitely be expensive. Are you close to a Birkenstock outlet? I got a pair there for $30. Have you looked at Nordstrom Rack or Ross Dress for less? I often see Clarks and Born shoes at each in the under $50 range.
