sleepymommy
Ds4 (almost 5) has been asking for piano lessons quite a bit. There is a place nearby that teaches young children in a group format and they use the Harmony Road method of teaching. Has anyone tried this or heard of it? What are your thoughts about the program? JenneinCA
It is a wonderful program. It teaches piano playing by ear and note reading at the same time. The songs are cute. The class is age appropriate. It was wonderful. But we stopped when our teacher was changed and the new one didn't have the child management skills to deal with a class of ten little kids. My ds7 (then 4 and 5) spent half the class with his hands over his ears complaining it was too loud. I really really liked the curriculum and the methodology. I wish the class had worked better for him.
sleepymommy
Thanks Jenne for your input! I don't know anything about music or piano instruction so I'm glad to hear you had a positive experience (at least until the new teacher!). The teacher of the class I'm looking at is the the director of the center so I'm hoping it will be good.
