calledtobehome
Are there any schedules for SOTW2 that includes the AG and booklist? I've searched for two nights and can't find one.
Chris in VA
I think you have to make your own, since you get to choose which activities and which supplementary books you want to use for each chapter. In general, I find that keeping a certain bare-bones structure to the week, and changing out the actual activities/books every week helps a lot. I go thru the AG in the spring before I need it and see what I can find in the library (on the computer). Then I write down a gridded list that includes the title of the SOTW chapter, the things I want to do to supplement that, and any other resources I might want to include (like a cool website or computer game, or a film or field trip). I plug my list into this structure: Monday, we read the first and sometimes the second section of SOTW chapter, do the coloring page while reading, and do a narration (with a picture at the top, which we used the second year from Hannah's Homeschool Helps yahoo group). We started reading any supplementary material and kept at it all week. Tues (or the next history day), we finished the readings, maybe did another narration (or saved the narration until that day), did the map (you usually have to finish the whole chapter before doing the map), and maybe did an activity. Weds or the next history day, we did any other activities and finished the reading or whatever. Sometimes we did 3 days a week, sometimes every day, sometimes we didn't do any activities but reading. So basically the schedule was Day One: Read, narrate, coloring page, start supplementary book Day Two: Read, narrate, map, activity, continue reading supplementary book Day Three: Activity Day Four/Five: Finish the supplementary reading. Can go into the next week if needed. Pretty much one chapter per week, with a few weeks condensed or skipped.
