busymama7
Is it needed? I thought I had read somewhere that they could go straight from decimals/percents to beginning algebra. Thanks!
momofkhm
Is it needed? I thought I had read somewhere that they could go straight from decimals/percents to beginning algebra. Thanks! I did exactly that because that's what the website said at one point. Did not work for us. She spent last year spinning her wheels at algebra - two different books. Over the summer we used Khan Academy for pre-algebra and are doing algebra this year. Hopefully it will work this time!
busymama7
How long did it take her to go through the khan pre-a? Did the LOF early books work for her, but not the beginning algebra? Do you think it would have if she had done one of the pre-a books? Thanks!
EKS
I can't imagine that a child who knows: addition facts multiplication facts long division and what is taught in the Fred Fractions and Decimals books (I have used them) would be even remotely ready for algebra. I would use the Fred Prealgebra books at a minimum.

Neither of my kids could have succeeded with Fred Algebra without something between Decimals and it. I know there are people with very mathy kids that have said they have done it, but it wouldn't have worked here.
