Classical Conversation people... I have a question

Recommended Posts

I would like to have a lot more memory work this year in our homeschool but I can't afford the time or money of CC. So I am trying to put together my own memory work from various sources. I saw these CC videos on youtube and would like to find out more.

I think this is fantastic. Can someone tell me what this is that I need to buy to teach this to my kids? I want to learn this with them!

Is this video the same thing just done different than the one above?

Also, what other sources of song or chant do you use to teach memory work in other areas besides History?

They are reciting the titles of the Veritas Press history cards. You can purchase them from VP and occaisionally can find them on the for sale boards. (fwiw: I have the Creation set and the first set of cards for the Bible for sale)

CC doesn't memorize the dates on the cards, just the order. Imho, it's just as easy to memorize the title/date as the titles in order, it just might take longer.

Also, Living Memory (written by boardie Plaid Dad, a.k.a. Dr. Campbell) is an excellent resource for memory work and much more sequential than CC.

I set up a large white board exactly like a tutor would. You can see a poor sample here with the various subject work written out. Here is also a post I wrote about memorizing a timeline.

If you do a search on memory work or CC, lots of info will come up.
