chepyl
We did not get started with formal school work until after 4:00 PM! DH was using the computer and my desk, my lesson plans are on the computer and I have asked for weeks for him to get out a printer (we have 5 in the garage...a mess of a place!! His organization...). If I had a printer, I could have printed the plans, moved the school desk and done our work this morning! Instead we made bread and had a mini science lesson about yeast (we just started studying Taxonomy in Biology, so we identified the Kingdom and watched it rise...over and over!) Then we ate, and ate, and ate!! Maybe it was all the carbs, maybe it is the time, maybe he is tired...but math that should have taken him 10 minutes took over an hour!!! I had to fight to keep him in his seat, there was some yelling, a trip to his room.... Since the time-out, we are better....still rough though!:glare:

Rosie_0801
Next time, I'd be asking dh if he was giving us the day off. Rosie

chepyl
We now have a working printer! This should not happen again! I am currently hiding with my phone!
swellmomma
Given that your ds is only 6 I would have not bothered with starting school at 4. I would have done read alouds and played a board game while the bread baked, maybe gone out for a walk or something else. 4 pm is so late in the day for a little guy like that to just be starting, by then they are getting tired and working towards dinner/bedtime routines. Glad to hear you have a printer now so that you don't have to have that happen again.
Truscifi
:grouphug: That must have been so frustrating! I'm glad you have your printer now.

We aren't moving much before 10am, so really it was starting just after lunch. Normally that is when I head out to teach at the studio. We do school at 9 pm when I get home sometimes. He was just a mess today.
