swellmomma
Today we went to a neighbouring town for their parade and safety daze. The kids got enough candy to last until Halloween (and we have 2 more parades/fairs in the next 10 days). Then we had a quick picnic at a park before heading to their safety daze. The kids all won new bike helmets in a frisbee toss game. None of the ones they had fit Austin so he chose a new one for the kids I babysit to wear when they are here. The older 2 learned how to ride quads. They had bouncy castles, bungee run, face painting and old fashioned games (sack race, egg race, 3-legged races etc), they all won goodie bags at those games. Inside the garage area they had booths of safety information. THe kids got colouring books, stickers, pencils, erasers etc in there and then they played a trivia game. Hunter won a flashlight the rest just won more goodie bags. All in all it was a very good day. The kids are completely exhausted after spending 4 hours in the blazing sun. Gotta love small town events. I can't get over how much they got at it, all for free! We go on Saturday to a different town for their town parade and fair, they are having a penny carnival so teh kids are pretty excited. And the week after that My town has it's parade and ag fair. Going to be a great couple weeks with all the fairs.

I guess I need to get with it and find out what events are happening here!! It's events like these ones make me remember why we chose to move a small town. There is down sides to living here in a lot of things we gave up when we left the big city, but it is the things the towns have going on that remind me of the *why* I made this choice to move here.
