sagira
Dd just turned 4 and will be starting Florida VPK (Voluntary pre-Kindergarten) in Fall. I'm at times excited, at times nervous, other times sad, other times content. This is the first time a child of mine will be attending a public institution. It's a Montessori school, with a loving, involved teacher and same kind of directrice. The style fits dd to a T, and I know she'll be learning structured direction, order, practice life, reading, etc. for 3 hours a day. These 3 hours will help me focus on ds8 and get the cores done. Picking her up will be a break. I also have a 6-month-old baby girl. Anybody else sending their child to pre-K/VPK part time? :bigear:
Renee in NC
I did last year and my then 4yo loved it. She also went to a very good Montessori program and it was nothing but a positive experience.
sagira
That's nice to hear. How did she transition to being back home for K? Did I mention this particular school costs around $500 a month to go to fulltime? I wouldn't be doing it if were not for VPK.

We moved in March and there is no VPK here in NC (there is More at Four, but she couldn't get in.) She really liked going to school, but she seems okay about staying home. She's one that I would send to school this year, though, if we had a good option.
ByGrace3
We had no plans of sending ds this year, but at the beginning of summer made a last minute decision to put ds on a wait list for the school dd went to for VPK. I thought for sure he wouldn't get in, but a few weeks ago we got the call that he got in. He will be starting Monday. It was a really good experience for dd, and I do think it will be good for me to have more time to focus on dd 3 days a week, of course with the baby as well. :tongue_smilie:

This will give me an opportunity to focus on ds8 in third, and I do have a baby as well. Thanks for sharing :)
Amy loves Bud
Romy goes to the neighborhood church preschool. Last year she went MW, 9-2. This year she'll be in the 4 yo class on TTH. The time she is there is for her to have fun, do messy crafts, and play with kids her age while I work on some studies of my own. I teach her phonics, math, and some other topics on the days she is home. It works out really well for us.
