jjins
We live in Missouri and as such were able to have our children tested as part of the gifted program. We did have to bring each one in at odd times for 15-60 min sessions. Then they did a two tests before the IQ test. So districts will also run an IQ test for the lower end as well. These scores are used by some states to place students in appropriate programs. So, that said, other than getting our children in programs, we see no benefit in knowing IQ scores. I would not have paid for it unless we had to, in order to put DS in the program for K, 1 and 2. Now, were we live we do not tap this resource because it is not as strong of a program. PrincessAriel
I am not sure where to tell you to go, but make sure the person giving the test is experienced with it and working with children. I have nothing against college students, graduate students, etc., working as interns in various evaluation programs. But my children have been tested by them in the past and I do not feel we got an accurate result. This summer one of my dc was tested by a pediatric psychologist with 20 yrs experience and I feel we have finally gotten a better picture of our child. JMHO!
