if you carry hand lotion in your purse

Recommended Posts

has it ever leaked? I *REALLY* need to have lotion in my purse. My hands look older than they should since I wash them all day long due to farming! I really would love to carry lotion in my purse but have never put it in because I fear it would leak all over the place. Has this ever happened to you?

ETA: If you carry one and it's never leaked, have they been screw on lids or pop open ones? I'd think the screw on lids would be safer.

Have you tried a solid lotion bar?

My favorite recipe is 2 parts almond oil, 2 parts beeswax, 1 part shea butter, 1 part cocoa butter plus essential oil to taste (smell?)

I have found that traditional lotions are actually drying because they contain so much water which dries your skin when it evaporates.

I have somehow managed to make all of them leak. Consequently I never carry lotion any more. My mom keeps 2 or 3 types in her purse but keeps them in a small plastic case with a zipper just in case they open. I can't stay that organized LOL.

I have a little vinyl zippered makeup pouch for all my liquid contents. I don't want to risk getting mascara or lotion or hand sanitizer all over my checkbook. Or a little snack-sized Ziploc bag.

(The little zippered pouch was really a camera or mp3 player case from Dollar Tree.)

do you melt it all together and then shape it? I could carry one of those in a ziploc in my purse.

I have lavendar essential oil that smells HORRIFIC. I'm guessing it's because it's so strong until it's put into something? How many drops would you use in the above recipe? What do you use to shape them? Are there molds?

Sorry!

You can pour them directly into these

or pour them into muffin tins, freeze and store in ziplocs.

How many drops is so individual. Try it, if you don't like it, it is easy enough to remelt and try again.

Where can I go to sniff essential oils? I've done some google searches, but I don't want to buy a fragrance I haven't smelled in person.

I like your solid suggestion!

our local health food store sells some, and I'm sure craft stores sell them for people who make soaps and lotions. Be forewarned, some smell horrible until they're added into something. I don't think you can judge a smell by the bottle.

I sometimes carry a small bottle of lotion. I have a small purse, so I only carry them when I need them in there and they sit upright. It is a screw top and is Alba's Very Emolient lotion.

Mine is a big tube for my purse, maybe 4 oz. It has a large screw top and a smaller pop off top with the smaller hole in it. It's never leaked. It's been in there for almost a year, at least. If I was worried, I'd carry it in a makeup or ziplock bag.
