pahansen
Is it tacky to ask which supplier regularly has the best prices for Singapore? We're on a budget (but isn't everyone?), and in all honesty, I've done pretty well with resale for this year. So I'm not really complaining about needing to buy some items at retail prices, but I don't want to spend more than necessary. Singapore's online prices aren't exorbitant, but I'm buying for two kiddos, possibly for three. Christianbook.com and their homeschool site seem to have the best prices, but I'm not exactly "in the know". Their textbooks are ~$8, workbooks ~$8, HIGs ~$17.50, and IPs ~$8.50. So it's a bit of cost savings, but not a ton. Thanks! --Pamela

If you want the Standards Edition, which has better HIGs, more content and more built-in review, you need to look elsewhere. Bill

NittanyJen
And of course you can find textbooks and HIG's secondhand, since they're nonconsumable.

(I double-checked just to make sure.) Maybe they're carrying it for the first time this school year? In any case, they offer Standards and U.S. now. --Pamela

When I went to their Singapore page earlier through the main menu it showed only the US Edition. But when I when back I searched for the Standards Edition, and I see you are correct. I'm sorry if I caused any confusion. I certainly confused myself :tongue_smilie: Bill
pahansen
what do you need? 4A, 4B eventually, and 1B eventually, plus the workbook for 1A. We're moving from Calvert math, and when I got the HIG for 3A and 3B I looked through it. Most of the actual teaching Thing 1 has already learned (I wasn't sure whether to repeat grade 3 math). The stuff that would fall under the Singapore teaching method pretty much falls under "the way Thing 1 and Dad think about math." He'll love it. I have no concerns about moving on to Level 4, I just wasn't expecting it. I'm not sure what to do with Thing 3. I think we're going to keep with generic math workbooks for the time being, but I suspect she'll want to jump in with her older sister. She's showing signs of breathing math like Thing 1. She just turned 4, but yesterday she walked in and said to me, "Mom, 2 and 3 make 5!" I agreed, and she said, "Just like 4 and 1!" She understands "skip counting" far better than her older sister (who is not at all mathy -- she has other good qualities ;)). I'm not sure if Early Bird or the K program would be useful or not. I think I'm just going to sit back and see what happens while I'm teaching math to her older sister. --Pamela

Bill I purchased Standards from CBD a couple years ago so it has been available on their site for at least that long (wonder why you could not see it until now ). They have free shipping on all orders over $35 right now, if you have a catalog with a code (I could give you my last code, just PM me if you need it). How to find it: Main Page--Homeschool--Singapore Math (7th place below the Curriculum header in the left column). Here is a direct link to all things Singapore on CBD. LadyBeth
I have the Teacher Guides for levels 1A-4B. I just don't have enough posts logged in to sell them on this site! Oh, well.
