kristinannie
I wish I had seen this before! I am doing a do-it-yourself Around the World unit study approach this year. We are spending 1-2 months per continent. Actually, we are going to spend 3 months on N America so this might last more than a year! :auto:
abbeyej
If I were doing this, I'd base the class on How to Make an Apple Pie and See the World. First class could be an intro class where you read the story, talk about maps and globes, look at artifacts from around the world. Then each week you study one of the places the protagonist visits to gather her ingredients. Read some non-fiction about the location (there are some children's picture books about where cinnamon comes from, etc, that would also be useful), gather your "ingredient" (or a symbolic representation). And at the last class, assemble tiny "jar pies" for the kids to take home and bake.
kwg
That is a great idea! Thank you. My library has it so I will check it out and see if it is something that will fit.

We will just skip the bible part as we are secular. I was also thinking of doing it with some friends in a co-op setting.
