DawnUK
I'm willing to order any sock that will last more than a few months. I know that my boys are hard on their socks, but I'm constantly throwing them away. Maybe it's the brand that I'm buying. Any suggestions? Serendipity
Hmmm. Do your boys wear socks without shoes a lot? Do they go outside in socks only? If it were me, I would probably buy them slippers to wear indoors to save on socks.
~Rachel~
Maybe buy some slippers for them? My son either wears his out or outgrows them... outgrowing is worse because then you have good clothes just sitting there :)
~Rachel~
great minds...
Krista in LA
We've had good luck with the C9 from Target. Of course we only wear socks a few months out of the year in Louisiana, so that probably helps. Try slippers.
Suzanne in ABQ
Lands' End socks wear like iron, and they have up to adult sizes, but they're narrow and not very stretchy. If your boys have narrow feet, they'll be great. Gymboree socks are wonderful. They fit well and stretch nicely. They also wear quite well. But, they don't have bigger sizes (not sure how big they go these days).
Needleroozer
I've heard that Gold Toe socks wear like iron (not in feel but in duration). Yep. The only brand I buy for all of us- and to help, I just buy 20 pair of white, and 20 pair of black, and then we all share (none of us could ever tell whose socks were whose anyhow), and they are much easier to match out of the dryer. ~Rachel~
I will admit here that my hubby and son prefer Haynes. Which has the distinct advantage of colour coding the different sizes...
DawnUK
Thanks everyone! I'm off to sock shop! Dawn
Ottakee
Joe Boxer socks from KMart (normally I don't do KMart) are the ones that hold up the best for my son. He even has some from LAST year that don't have holes in them.
MommyX8
I bought Lands End socks for my younger ones. I LOVE them. I was so tired of having 8000 socks, and trying to find a match. Now I have one brand and the size is written under the words "Lands End" on the bottom of the sock. (Getting a sock on used to be a challenge for my little one, but now they know that they got it right when the words on on the bottom of their feet.) Anyway, the fit is great and the wash beautifully. Plus, can we say GUARANTEE?
Amy in NH
Smartwool socks are great wool socks that seem to last forever! And you could get a different color for each member of your family.
HollyDay
We use SmartWool. I have a few Life is Good and they are okay. But the SmartWool last long enough to pass down to younger dd. In fact, this is the third year I have worn my SmartWools
Sparkle
Another one here who likes Gold Toe. They have definitely held up the best of the brands we've tried.
Laura Corin
Lands' End socks wear like iron, and they have up to adult sizes, but they're narrow and not very stretchy. If your boys have narrow feet, they'll be great. Even Calvin, who has narrow feet, finds LE socks hard to put on because they are so lacking in stretch. Pam "SFSOM" in TN
Ooh, I think I know this one, and I learned it HERE! (Where else?) Wearing socks on carpet hastens their demise. Something about the friction of the fibers. I stopped wearing mine indoors, and the incidence of holes in the soles dropped dramatically.
