HappyGrace
are you finding good retention with this? I know the program is great (used it in school) but we had to memorize for a test each Friday. So I'm wondering if it would be better to stretch each unit out over two wks to allow more time for her to memorize definitions, or if people are having good retention doing a unit per wk. Thanks! swimmermom3
You are talking about Sadlier, right? I am afraid that my methodology is appalling. With MCT, I would give a test each Friday. Last year, I returned to Sadlier for convenience sake. Ds does a page a day, except of course for the first part which involves 3 pages. I don't test. If I see his words while reading, I will check his comprehension. If he is trapped in the car with me, I'll quiz him on a few of the words. He knows that if I don't like the outcome, we can return to testing. However, over the past 3 years, his vocabulary scores on state testing have shot through the roof, so I don't sweat it a lot. I loved MCT, but WWW was time-consuming to implement. Sadlier is sooo easy to use. All of kids have used it previously in private schools. It's a bit dry, but very effective, even with random testing.
