Mrs Mungo
How old were you when the first major news event in your memory happened? Example: I was 4 when Elvis died.

ereks mom
I know what you mean. I had to look up some dates. Me too. I vividly remember the race riots in the mid-1960s because my dad was a police officer in a southern town. I remember that there were times he had to work extra hours because of the protests, and I remember hearing him tell my mom about a man being beaten by a mob. That would have been early 1965, when I was 4yo.
LauraGB
Example: I was 4 when Elvis died. This one! I was 4 remember feeling like the earth stopped moving, lol! I remember playing with a toy train on the carpet (I still remember what the carpet looked like) and the news interrupted Days of Our Lives.

Guest
I remember them doing something at school when the Gulf War started, I was 8. Watching the news was not a family event in our house.
Melissa in Australia
I was 7, it was the worst bushfires to hit the state up till that time (1984). the town I was living in was surrounded with fire, and we had several days of ember attack. I remember watching the news and seeing the towns that were completely burned out and hoping it wouldn't happen where I was. Thought it was kind of fun ( as a 7 year old) to run around the back yard and stomp on all the burning leaves that were raining down ( where were my parents????) TrixieB
"One giant leap for mankind"; I was 2. My dad made me watch it on TV, but I didn't want to. :tongue_smilie:
thescrappyhomeschooler
We weren't really allowed to watch TV, so I don't remember much news from when I was very young. My mom always told me though, that when I was an infant, I watched the moon landing with her on TV!
Hunter's Moon
I was 7, 8 in one month, when the Twin Towers were attacked. I don't recall anything news related before that.

Carrie12345
3rd grade, Challenger explosion. Surely there was news before then, but I don't remember it. ;)
Jean in Newcastle
Five - 1968 Olympics. It was a huge deal not so much because of what was on tv (for me at least) but because it was the reason we bought our first black and white t.v.!
