Laura The reason's not in the video, and I could be getting details wrong, but I believe that the youngest's parents were killed in a wartime situation and all of her records were lost. I don't know about Lily, but it's not at all uncommon for older children to want to change their names, have a fresh start, etc. Often parents will keep their original name as their middle name.
