Guest Sewing110
I have three children that I need health curriculum for. Their ages and grades are age10/grade5, age12/grade 7 and age13/grade 8. I am at a loss as to what I should use. I know that I could pull from everyday life for health related issues, but I feel that I need a little more structure in this area. 5wolfcubs
If your family is Christian, then Total Health might be what you're looking for. I'm going to be using it with my dd who will be in 8th grade this coming year, but not my 6th grader. This is the first time anyone will have done "Health" as a subject. We've covered it w/ studying the human body over the years but never as its own subject. If you decided to use it with your 7th & 8th graders, you could get library books on the same topics for your 5th grader.
mchel210
My son did aop Health Quest. I bought it on ebay new...but super cheap. I love it. very easy to follow...the lessons have a ton of information. We skip the religion part in the beginning...but we have learned a lot. Our books are the 5-6 grade books. I think you could use one book for all your kids...and ask the questions verbally. Mallory
I am not sure what topics you really want to hit, but we have just started the 4-H Health series and really enjoy it (in fact I have been quite impressed with all the 4-H books we have). There are there 3 books, First Aid, Keeping Fit, Staying Healthy. We are doing the First Aid one so my examples are from there. I have said it before, but the books are a great mixture of hands on things-making a first aid kit or a butterfly bandage, worksheets-sometimes crosswords or wordsearches, sometimes filling in a chart, ect, field trip ideas, project ideas, ways to learn more- do an interview, or questions to research, and most of them have very helpful online pages as well. Probably you would want the Staying Healthy one here are some sample pages http://www.4-hcurriculum.org/details.aspx?ID=08175 (but not very helpful) and here is the online page http://www.ohio4h.org/health/stayinghealthy.html

QUOTE] Total Health has worked out very well for my middle schooler. For my younger child I use Steck-Vaughn Health workbooks from Rainbow Resource. These are available up to 6th grade and are pretty inexpensive...we've used 3rd and 4th grade so far and added some children's books that go along with the topics covered.
