Melinda
Which do you prefer and why? I had all intentions of going with SOTW 1, but discovered TOG this morning and now I'm not sure what to do. There's no way to do both is there? Either at the same time or in alternating years? They both seem like solid programs, but SOTW seems to have more fun things to do. Help, please! Magic Wand
Actually...we used TOG Year 1 Redesign this school year and SOTW is scheduled in it. Granted, not all the chapters are included, just those pertinent to the TOG flow of history. I also bought the SOTW AG and used it often for maps and even activities. Sometimes it was just simpler for me to have the girls do a ready-to-go SOTW map and the SOTW activities are easy and fun too. So, it is possible to do both - maybe not completely, but if you really want more of SOTW, why not buy it on audio and save it for "car listening". This way you can do TOG, but listen to all of SOTW too!

summer
We mostly listen to SOTW in the carr and not follow the AGs also. I think done that way, you can still do any history curriculum, or none.
Miss Marple
I would suggest that you reserve TOG for later. It is a great program, but, IMO, would be overkill for such young students. SOTW, especially on audio, would be plenty - and it's a lot cheaper. If you used SOTW for the elementary years and moved to TOG for the junior/high school years, I think your children would get a lot more out of it. Melinda
Thanks, all. I didn't realize this question gets asked so often. I think we will stick with SOTW the first time through (especially since we have the books already) and switch to TOG when they are older.
