Chris in VA
Wondering if I can just have the SAT count for ds' test this year (we homeschool under the "have high school diploma and then do the testing" requirement). Thanks
Jane in NC
Hi Chris, In NC, the SAT cannot be used for accountability purposes since it is considered an aptitude test. The ACT, on the other hand, is permitted. There has been much discussion on the Internet that the SAT is becoming more like the ACT. So...why not use it if your state permits it?? Basketmaker Amy
Our county in Florida accepts it. I would check with your school district.
Michele R.
It completely depends on your state. Our old home state of MS had no testing requirements at all. Our new state of TN is currently trying to invalidate all high school diplomas given to homeschoolers. Homeschoolers are trying to combat this by granting valid diplomas for high school homeschool coursework, as signed off by parents, AND an ACT score of 16 (currently the equivalent of a C average and the same minimum score required by most high school athletes to enter college athletic programs). Anyway, every state is EXTREMELY different. The HSLDA website, I think, has requirements for each state, or at least links for you to find out. -Michele R., Homeschooler for 8 years
