Gamom3
I am getting fruits, veggies, meat(lunch), cheese and rolls to make party platters for Sunday evening. When would you get the food? Dh says Friday, I think I need to wait until Saturday(but then again I don't know if I will have company)
Mrs Mungo
I would do it Friday because I would make up some of the stuff on Saturday.
JFSinIL
I'd get and make-up what I could in advance, but put off getting rolls until the day I needed them, to have them soft and fresh as possible. Fruits - depends on the fruit. Will it keep?
Carol in Cal.
Make sure that you double wrap all the meat and cheese so that it cannot dry out or spoil in the fridge. I would order the rolls/bread on Friday to pick up as late as possible--on Sunday if they are open, or Saturday night if not. That way they reserve you the baked goods. There shouldn't be any extra charge for this if you pay for it in advance. Are you ordering a cake? If so, I would do that today or tomorrow. The cake decorators get pretty busy this time of the year. I'm sure that they wouldn't want to turn business away, but you want to make sure that if they do turn some away, none of it is yours. Cindy in FL.
I always wait until the last possible minute because I want it all to be as fresh as possible and I also don't want all that extra food in my way any longer than necessary. Tammyla
I'd purchase everything Friday and prepare it Saturday.
Tracey in TX
Saturday. If there are leftovers, it would be nice for them to last an extra day or two to enjoy. You could buy the fruit on Friday, but meats and cheeses on Saturday. Fresh bread on Sunday.
