Pam B
Hi all, Is there anyone out there who can suggest a site that will enable my kids to build their own website? More specifically- here's what I am looking for: A site that explains the how-to of it all. A place to actually build the site for free. These can be one in the same or seperate. Picky, aren't I? :iagree:I just thought it would be a good project for them to work on over the summer- WITHOUT my constant help! :D Mean aren't I? hehehehe! Nah, I don't mind helping, I just really want them to do the most of it on their own. Thank-ya!
Boxing Hare
I had the same idea as you! We haven't started yet, (Is it almost July already??!!!) but I was going to have my ds try this site: http://sofia.fhda.edu/gallery/html/index.html My ds has tried Game Maker. There is a tutorial to get you started. It starts with drag and drop programming, but you can move to language based as you learn more. (so I'm told) http://wiki.yoyogames.com/index.php/Main_Page
Wee Pip
Just jump in there and do it! Hands on is the best way to discover web design:) A blog is a good place to start. Sign up at blogger.com and play around with changing the layouts, post text, add pictures, etc. It's good to have something interesting to write about, and also to have some photographs or clipart to play around with. If you don't want to use a blog format, Netobjects Fusion is a free web design tool (they have later editions that are pay-to-use, but the free edition works well, too). Here is the link to Netobjects Fusion Essentials (their free edition) http://netobjects.com/html/essentials.html If you want to add in a little more challenge, learn some html. After html, Css is a good addition. You can go through the tutorials at W3Schools: http://www.w3schools.com/ There are probably Dummies Guides to any of these things that you could get from the library, but hands-on learning is the best way to get started on webdesign.
