We gave up on the DVDs. Most of the materials would be easy to get locally, but some would be a tad challenging or take a bit of time driving around to the hardware store, etc., to get.

The books at the library shouldn't be a huge problem if your library has them. Depending on the level though, some are used most weeks throughout the year. I'm thinking K here with the Children's Encyclopedia that we have been doing for weeks and weeks.

It depends somewhat on the level. Level A and C each have a spine book that lasts for almost all of the year, so that book would be much easier to have on hand than to have to keep renewing at the library. Level B has a handful of spine books that are used for several weeks each, but would be more doable from the library I think. If you are looking at B or C, I can tell you which titles would be easiest to use from the library (based on how long they are needed for). I did Level A with a much older version, so I'm not much help with that one.

I have had more success using the library for a SL Core than for SL Science, but that is also partly because my library has a much better children's fiction section than non-fiction. My approach has been to purchase the IG and the spine books, as well as titles that aren't available through a local library.
