Harriet Vane
My doctor, who is lactose intolerant, told me that all mammalian milk contains lactose, to different degrees. He showed me a chart that listed different mammals and the lactose content in their milk. You might be able to google and find this??? Both my dr and my son (who is also lactose intolerant) react badly to goat's milk. There are some lactose intolerant people who claim they are fine with goat's milk. I have always been perplexed by this, since I watched my son's reaction and subsequently heard my dr's explanation.
Tracy in Ky
Raw milk (cow or goat) often presents no problem for lactose intolerant people. During pasteurization, the enzyme lactase is destroyed, and that is what breaks down lactose. End result--your body is left with the lactose, but without the natural enzyme needed to break it down. Raw milk comes with the natural enzyme fully functioning and present, which is why many, many people who are otherwise 'lactose intolerant' can drink raw cow and goat milk just fine. I have read amazing things about this. You may want to check it out. And, raw milk is absolutely delicious--both goat and cow.:tongue_smilie: Blessings, Tracy
