4kids4me
Can I bring my iPod on the plane? Dumb question, but I was reading that "some electrical devices" interfer with the plane. lol *I* don't want to be known as the cause of a plane crash 'cause I was jammin' with my iPod! lol Also, since it'll be a long flight (longer back!), what do you advise me to bring that I might not otherwise think of (got my iPod, reading, Sudoku, pillow, legal drugs)? Thanks!
Tracey in TX
iPods are ok. You'll be required to turn it off during take-off and landing. DSs for DCs and laptops are also acceptable inflight. Have a great time! Take a couple photos of airline entertainment: reading, sleeping, jamming to tunes, etc. :)
Laurel
Yep, you can definitely bring your iPod. You cannot use it during takeoff and landing, so make sure it is turned off (and tucked away) then. They will announce when it is "safe" to begin using it, and will ask you to turn it off 15miuntes or so before you land. I always bring a blanket and/or sweatshirt and socks with me while I fly. I get SO cold on airplanes. Perhaps some healthier snacks? You can bring any food you like. If I don't make a point to eat healthy while flying, I always feel sick. Make sure you drink a lot on the flight as well. Oh yeah - have fun! :)
Cindy in C-ville
Gum - for your ears. The worst flight I ever had was the 5-hour flight from St. Lucia to Miami. I had a sinus cold and my head was about to explode. With that said, maybe some sinus medication, just in case. I agree with the healthy food - almonds/apple is my favorite combo. Don't eat the salted peanuts. They'll make you feel bloated. Buy a large bottle of water once you go through security and take it on the plane. You can take your favorite EMPTY Kleen Kanteen or whatever with you, but you can't put anything in it until you get through security. Don't get soft drinks/coffee/alcohol. Just drink water - lots of it. Pillow is great. And as others have said, your IPod is fine. We even take a laptop with a couple of DVDs in case their movie optioins are inane or your seats are such that you can't see the screen. Dh bought some kind of a splitter thing so we can both listen to the movie at the same time. Radio Shack would know exactly what this is; I don't. Plan on moving around the cabin every hour or so. BTW, I've found it SO worth it to buy travel size toiletries for my carry-on just in case my bags are lost. I also love having hand wipes in my purse. Tuck in a change of clothes and your bathing suit. Even if your luggage is not lost, it will give you such piece of mind to know you can survive a few days w/o your bigger suitcase. Have a GREAT time!!!! I want a report when you get back! :) Cindy
4kids4me
Thanks so much, Tracey, Laurel, and Cindy! Great advice and everything has been noted! I would NEVER have thought to pack my bathing suit in the checked baggage. I'm so excited about this trip!!!!
Heidi @ Mt Hope
I wouldn't know because I never go anywhere, LOL! Just wanted to say... Have a terrific vacation!!! You're gonna have a wonderful time. Relax. Enjoy yourself. Take lots of pictures. Can't wait to hear about it when you get back!
tbmoran
Can't add a lot of advice to what others stated. Depending on your airline, they may have free movies for you to watch also. Like someone else said, be sure to drink lots of liquids (everytime they come around offering beverages, take something). One other thing, to reduce jet lag, set your watch to the time at your destination and start pretending it is that time. Where are your ports of call in the Mediterannean. We went on a Mediterannean cruise this past fall. Hope you get to go to Santorini; if you do, make sure you ride a donkey to the top (it will be an experience you will talk about forever).
