Ideas for items to put in a quiet time box?

Recommended Posts

I've decided to implement a daily quiet time with my kids. I'm pregnant and we're having to school all through the summer due to my 2.5 month morning sickness hiatus. I need a daily break LOL. My girls are 4 and 7. I think I want to create 4 boxes and rotate the contents and the boxes each day. What are some things to put into them? I've come up with the following:

A box of crayons

A pen

Activity or coloring book

Blank paper

Lacing cards

Any more ideas?

First thought was My Head. But I'm thinking the box would be too small for that. And you probably want IDEAS for the kids to do during a quiet time.

We use movies, video games, reading, puzzles, legos, wedgits, and a few other building toys. My youngest one loves to play with her dolls, and could probably do that all day.

The best luck I've had with quiet time is to put on an audiobook and require the child to stay in bed. At Little Librarian's age she doesn't take many naps but she will listen to her book happily for an hour. The other options for quiet time are to play with stuffed animals or read. That's it but it seems to work for us.

Paper dolls. Colorforms. There are Dover mini activity books with a scene and reusable stickers. They don't last as long as colorforms though. Maybe those little looms that just make a square? I forget what they're called exactly, but they come with a bag of loops.
