Sophia
Maybe this has been asked before, but why do some of you have your dc take the National Latin Exam? Is this considered high school credit or just something positive to put on a transcript? thanks!
74Heaven
We are taking the Intro one this year for the first time as we just learned about it. I think most people take it for the fun of it or the challenge. Also, it validates the "mom" transcript or homeschool grade if the student does well enough. It is another thing to show a child's proficiency in Latin. It is not in any wya for credit as fat as I know. I think we are mostly taking it because it is reasonably priced and fun! Jean in Wisc
We took it because it looked like a good thing to try. :D We did use it on one of the applications my dd filled out when applying for scholarships--"awards received." It looks good on a college/scholarship application. :)
mcconnellboys
This same question was just asked earlier today, so you might want to scroll down a little for that discussion. Regena
Jane in NC
To me, the NLE offers an interesting challenge when you consider who is taking the test. My son is not being compared to the general population, but against fellow students who study Latin, a small group, many of whom attend elite private schools. He holds his own which does seem to verify his "mommy grade". You can bet that I added his "cum laude" in Latin II to his 9th grade transcript!
